Stereo panning is best evaluated with headphones. Speakers may not reveal subtle pan differences, especially in untreated rooms.
In most mixes, vocals, bass, and kick drum sound best at or near center. Pan supporting instruments (guitars, keys, percussion) to the sides for width.
Values between -0.3 and 0.3 create a natural sense of width without sounding artificially lopsided. Reserve extreme panning for creative effects.
If a recording sounds shifted to one side, pan it in the opposite direction to re-center it. Upload, adjust, and download the corrected version.
This workflow is available through Magica; access and usage follow your Magica plan.
Stereo panning controls the left-right balance of audio. A pan value of -1 sends audio entirely to the left speaker, 0 centers it equally in both speakers, and +1 sends it entirely to the right speaker.
No. Stereo panning only adjusts the left-right balance. The pitch, speed, and overall character of your audio remain unchanged.
The tool always outputs stereo (2 channels). If you attach a mono file, the panning will distribute the signal between left and right channels based on your chosen pan position.
You can upload MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC, M4A files, and even video files (MP4, MOV, WebM) to extract audio from. Output is available as WAV for lossless quality.
Processing is quick since everything runs locally on your device. Most files under 10 minutes process in a few seconds.

Pan and balance are closely related. Pan positions a mono signal in the stereo field, while balance adjusts the relative volume of existing left and right channels. This Magica workflow uses a StereoPannerNode which handles both cases correctly.
