MP3 is the universal format that works on Android phones and most devices. M4R is Apple's ringtone format specifically for iPhones. Choose MP3 for Android or M4R for iPhone.
Ringtones can be up to 30 seconds long. This is the standard limit for iPhone ringtones and works well for Android too. You can select any 30-second portion of your audio.
Download the M4R file, then connect your iPhone to a Mac and drag the file into the Tones section in Finder. On newer iOS versions, you can also use GarageBand to import and set the ringtone directly on your phone.
Download the MP3 file and transfer it to your phone. Go to Settings > Sound > Phone Ringtone and select the file. Some Android phones let you set it directly from the file manager.
Fade-out gradually reduces the volume over the last 2 seconds of your ringtone. This creates a smooth ending instead of an abrupt cut-off, making your ringtone sound more polished.
