Good morning, everyone! As we gather here today, I want to remind you that this is the season to be jolly. Yes, it is! However, amidst the holiday cheer, we must remember the true essence of this season and our calling as Christians.
Today, I want to talk about being summoned by God. How many of you have ever received a summons? You know, that official notice to appear somewhere, like court? Well, we have all received a summons from God, a command to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is not just a suggestion; it is a command from our Lord, as stated in Matthew 28:18-20. We are called to go out into the world and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
In our discussions this morning, we touched on the book of Titus, specifically Titus 3:1-8. This passage reminds us to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be ready for every good work, and to speak evil of no one. We were once foolish and disobedient, but through God's mercy, we have been saved. Therefore, we should be careful to maintain good works, as these are profitable to men.
As we navigate our lives, we must recognize the two spheres we operate in: the natural and the supernatural. The natural sphere often distracts us with worries and obligations, while the supernatural sphere calls us to trust in God's plan and purpose. We need to focus on the spiritual significance of our actions, especially during this Christmas season.
We often find ourselves overwhelmed by the demands of life. I can relate to this, as I am a busy person. However, I have learned the importance of delegating responsibilities and trusting God to provide. When we give our worries to God, we can focus on what truly matters—serving Him and others.
Prayer is our most powerful tool. It allows us to communicate directly with God, seeking His guidance and strength. We must remember that God is always in control, and through prayer, we can find peace and direction.
As believers, we are called to live out our faith actively. Matthew 5:13-16 tells us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We must let our light shine before others so that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. This is our mission—to represent Christ in all we do.
In everything we do, we must seek God first. Matthew 6:33 reminds us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to us. We need to trust that God will provide for our needs as we focus on Him.
As we reflect on our lives and our calling, let us remember that we are summoned by God to serve Him and others. We are called to be His ambassadors, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Let us embrace this calling with joy and commitment, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.
