This blog post explores the essential role of faith and action in the Christian life, emphasizing that belief must be accompanied by action to manifest God's promises. Believing in God always requires action before manifestation. Faith acts before anything happens. In Exodus 14, Moses had to lift up his rod and stretch out his hand over the sea for it to divide. He didn't get to the Red Sea and find it already parted; it took faith and action for him to get there, and it took further action before the miracle happened.
Consider the woman with the issue of blood. Did she know she would be healed? Did she know that if she pushed past the crowd, if she crawled and squeezed past everyone, she would be healed? Why not go to touch the hand of Jesus? Why just the hem of his garment? She was close enough already. Why not just run up and grab Jesus or pull on his garment to get his attention? Her faith knew that just the action of touching something on Jesus would be more than enough. That's why in Luke 8:48, the word of God says, "Daughter," he said to her, "your faith has made you well. Go in peace."
You see, faith acted before anything happened. I want to encourage you, dear friends, believe, but act on your belief. Have faith today, but also act on your faith. Combine your faith with action because the word of God teaches us that faith is the key to everything for the believer in Christ. It's by faith that we come to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It's also by faith that we live our lives with joy and gladness because we know that there is eternity to be spent with the Father above.
Perhaps one of the most prominent verses in the Bible about faith is Hebrews 11:6: "And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." This underlines just how faith is a requirement for the believer. It is the core of our Christian living. Faith is the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:30 states, "By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for 7 days." The Bible tells us that faith can break down walls and strongholds. For the believer that needs a breakthrough, what do they need to have? What precedes the breakthrough? Faith. For the believer that needs a miracle, what precedes that miracle? It's faith.
For the one who's hurting, the one who feels as though they've been wounded or as though there is no peace of mind, let me tell you that before the healing can take place, before the miracle, before restoration happens, you have to believe. You have to have faith. Faith should be the core principle that we stand on—faith in God's word, faith in who God is, and faith in God's promises.
With this understanding that we cannot please God without faith, that faith is an essential part of our Christian lives, let us go before the throne of God and ask him to help us be emboldened to walk in faith and to act in faith every single day of our lives.
Lord Jesus, be praised, be glorified and honored. Lord, we desire to grow in faith. We desire to grow in understanding. Father, we want to grow in wisdom. Matthew 7:24-27 says, "Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock."
But everyone who hears these sayings of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall. Lord Jesus, we will build our lives on your words because our house will not fall when it's built on you, Master God. You're the rock of ages.
When the rains of life come, when the floods of life come, when the winds blow and beat on us, we will not fall because you, Lord, are our anchor, our chief cornerstone, and the solid rock on which we stand. Father, forgive us for the times that we have doubted you. Lord, I pray that you would displace any doubt and fill our hearts with faith. I ask that the Holy Spirit would empower us and strengthen us when we feel weak.
Holy Ghost, remind us that God's word in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says, "And he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
For the sake of Christ, then I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Lord, in my weakness, I am strong because greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world. Thank you for giving me sufficient grace. Give me a heart that does boast in my weaknesses so that I can have your power rest upon me.
Even now, Lord Jesus, as I ask for your hand to be shown in my life, I am content knowing that where I am limited, you are limitless. Where I struggle, you prevail. Where I fall short, only you can make me overcome. Father, I bless your precious name. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe that he is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one can get to the Father except through him. I believe that he is the bread of life. He is the one who sustains us. I believe that Jesus Christ is the prince of peace and in him and him alone, you and I will find peace beyond all human understanding. I believe Jesus Christ is the light of the world and the good shepherd. I believe he was a healer and a miracle worker when he walked on this earth, and he still is able to do the same today.
In the name of Jesus Christ, there is power. His name is above every other name. And there will come a day when every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I encourage you today to seek Jesus Christ for yourself, for your home, and for your family.
