While many might focus on the Super Bowl, I find my heart drawn to the teachings of Jesus, particularly regarding prayer. This reflection is prompted by a question: What makes you pray the most? For many, including myself, it is often during life's most challenging moments that we find ourselves on our knees, seeking God's presence and guidance.
In Luke 19:39, we see a pivotal moment where some Pharisees ask Jesus to rebuke His disciples for worshiping Him. Jesus responds, "I tell you, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." This statement underscores the divine recognition of Jesus as God in the flesh. As He approaches Jerusalem, He weeps over the city, lamenting that they did not recognize the time of God's coming to them. This moment is filled with both sorrow and hope, as Jesus desires to bring peace to those who would accept Him.
As Jesus gazes upon Jerusalem, He prophesies its destruction, which historically occurred in 70 AD when the Roman Emperor Titus besieged the city. Jesus' tears reflect His deep love and desire to save the people from the consequences of their rejection of Him. He longs for them to experience the peace that only He can provide.
