What's going on, guys? Welcome back to another video. This time, we are at Orlando Speed World (OSW) for the That Racing Channel (TRC) Dragstrip Night, where I’m taking my C8 ZR1 back to the drag strip for more runs. With the wing back on the car, I’m eager to see how it affects trap speeds compared to my previous runs.
Before hitting the track, I made sure to set up the car properly. The rear tire pressure was adjusted, cameras were mounted, and I donned my helmet along with a Hans hybrid device for safety. As we queued up for our first run, I was excited to see how the car would perform under the current conditions.
After a brief wait, it was time for my first run. The conditions were hot, with temperatures around 93°F. I completed the run with a time of 9.846 seconds at a trap speed of 143.66 mph. Comparing this to my previous runs without the wing, I noted that the wing seemed to make a difference in terms of trap speed, even though the temperature was about 9 degrees cooler during my earlier runs.
The heat was definitely affecting my 60-130 times, which were slower than my previous bests.
After my first run, I took a moment to let the car cool down. The event was well-organized, with a variety of classes including index racing and roll racing. It was great to see so many enthusiasts and cars at OSW, and I appreciated the effort the TRC team put into making the event enjoyable for everyone.
As the night progressed, I completed a second run, achieving a time of 9.88 seconds at 144.6 mph. This run felt faster, and I was pleased with the consistency of my times. However, the heat continued to play a role in my performance, particularly affecting my 60-130 times.
Despite the heat, I was able to maintain consistent performance across my runs, which was encouraging.
During the event, there was a minor incident where a heavily modified Corvette hit the wall. Thankfully, the driver was unharmed, and the OSW staff handled the situation quickly, allowing the event to continue without significant delays.
As the night came to a close, I reflected on my runs and the overall experience. The heat was challenging, but I was pleased with how the C8 ZR1 performed. The car showed consistency, and I believe it has the potential for even faster runs in cooler conditions.
I want to thank the TRC team for hosting such a fantastic event and for their hospitality. It was great to meet fellow car enthusiasts and share our passion for performance vehicles.
