The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport is set to be a track-focused powerhouse with a new 6.7L small block V8 engine producing 525-550 horsepower. Featuring unique design elements, an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and an updated interior, it will be priced between $90,000 and $95,000. Production begins in June 2026 with an official reveal expected by May 2026.
The last time Chevrolet revealed a Corvette Grand Sport was back in 2016. Since then, the Corvette has evolved significantly, transforming from a competitor to the Porsche 911 into a track-dominating machine that outperforms multi-million dollar hypercars. This evolution makes the upcoming 2027 Grand Sport one of the most anticipated sports cars in recent years.
Recently, NJP Moto posted a video giving us the first official glimpse of the new Grand Sport. Although the footage was grainy and taken from a distance, photo editing software allowed enthusiasts to zoom in and enhance the image, revealing several unique features.
How do we know this is the Grand Sport and not another trim like the Z06 Bathurst 12-hour special edition? The key lies in the badging on the rear quarter fenders. The badge is distinct from the Z06, ZR1, or any other Corvette badge, featuring a row of white characters on top and red characters on the bottom, unique to the Grand Sport.
The body closely resembles the Z06 but includes unique side skirts and a front splitter not seen on other C8 models. Additionally, the Grand Sport sports twin diagonal stripes above the rear wheel—a shift from the traditional placement over the front wheel—reflecting the engine's move to the rear.
The most exciting aspect of the 2027 Grand Sport is its engine. It will feature a brand new sixth-generation small block 6.7-liter V8 with aluminum overhead cams, combining both direct and port fuel injection. The engine will have a pushrod valve train, 4.4-inch bore spacing, aluminum block and head construction, a forged steel crankshaft with a longer stroke, and a revised combustion chamber.
This naturally aspirated engine is expected to produce between 525 and 550 horsepower, making it the most efficient and economical small block engine GM has ever produced.
The Grand Sport will likely come with a single transmission option: the TMI TR9080 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, shared with the Z06 and ZR1 models. Although a TMI six-speed manual transmission is compatible with the C8 Corvette, Chevrolet has decided not to offer it for this model.
The 2027 Grand Sport will also feature an updated interior, addressing common complaints such as the "wallow buttons," which will be removed in this new model.
Chevrolet plans to end production of the 2026 C8 in May 2026 and will overhaul the Bowling Green manufacturing facility to begin production of the 2027 models in June 2026. This timing likely coincides with the start of Grand Sport production.
Footage captured by NJP Moto shows two Grand Sports—one white with red stripes and one blue with red stripes—being prepared for a promotional video shoot. This footage was taken about three weeks ago, suggesting that the promo video is complete and awaiting release.
Given this, an official reveal is imminent, possibly as early as May 2026, with order books expected to open a few months before production begins.
The Grand Sport will be positioned between the Stingray, which starts at $70,000, and the Z06, starting at $120,000. Hagerty reports that the Grand Sport's base price will be below $100,000, likely between $90,000 and $95,000.
However, Chevrolet plans to offer numerous performance and appearance packages, which could push the price of a fully loaded Grand Sport closer to $130,000.
Demand for the Grand Sport is expected to be high, with significant hype and potential markups on the first few hundred units. Buyers are advised to be patient and wait for the initial excitement and price inflation to subside before purchasing.
While official performance figures are yet to be released, speculation suggests the Grand Sport will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 2.7 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in under 11 seconds.
Designed as a track-focused car on a budget, the Grand Sport will feature a new engine, exhaust system, and updated suspension, promising to outperform competitors in its price range.
We can expect the first official look at the new Grand Sport between now and June 2026. Detailed track performance data will likely be revealed in the third or fourth quarter of 2026.
