This blog post details a 3-day trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand, highlighting the luxurious Anantara Chiang Mai hotel, local attractions, delicious food, and cultural experiences, making it a must-visit destination for travelers.
Hello everyone, I'm Haru, and I'm currently in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This is my first visit to this beautiful city, and I arrived today via VietJet from Bangkok. Despite a slight delay of 30 minutes, I’m excited to share my 3-day itinerary exploring Chiang Mai, starting with a stay at the famous Anantara Chiang Mai hotel. Join me as we dive into this adventure!
Upon exiting the airport, I was greeted by a magnificent statue, a true testament to Chiang Mai's rich culture. Although I had a window seat on the plane, I couldn't see much of the scenery during the flight. However, the moment I arrived, I was enveloped by the lush nature that Chiang Mai is known for, making it a popular destination for many Japanese travelers.
The Anantara Chiang Mai offers complimentary airport transfers, and within 15 minutes, I arrived at the hotel. The car was comfortable, and they even provided cold water and towels, which was a nice touch.
As I entered the hotel, I was struck by the open and welcoming atmosphere. I was served a signature welcome drink that had a delightful aroma, reminiscent of mango. This drink was created by a bartender who previously worked at a non-alcoholic cocktail bar that unfortunately closed due to a fire last year. It’s now a signature drink of the hotel, and I could easily drink three liters of it!
After checking in, I headed to my room, and I was blown away by the stunning view and the warm wooden decor. The room featured a balcony overlooking the garden, and I was welcomed with delicious treats including dragon fruit and traditional Thai sweets. The attention to detail was impressive, with complimentary chocolates and a lovely stationery set that I couldn't resist taking home.
The bathroom was equally luxurious, equipped with high-end amenities, including a Dyson hairdryer and a spacious shower area. The water pressure was excellent, and the bathrobe was soft and comfortable.
After settling in, I decided to explore the hotel grounds. The Anantara Chiang Mai is uniquely situated next to the Ping River, offering a serene atmosphere. The hotel features a beautiful restaurant that was renovated from a 103-year-old building, and the pool area provided a relaxing space to unwind.
One of the highlights of my stay was the dinner cruise offered by the hotel. Dining on a boat while enjoying the tranquil sounds of nature was a memorable experience. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and provided great recommendations for local street food and cafes.
On my second day, I set out to explore Chiang Mai's famous temples. I wore long pants and a UV-cut jacket to respect the dress code at the temples. My first stop was the Warorot Market, a local market filled with affordable goods, from clothing to delicious street food. I was thrilled to find traditional Thai pants for just 59 baht (about $2).
I visited several temples, including Wat Phra Singh, which is known for its stunning architecture and historical significance. The temple was built in 1345 and is one of the largest in Chiang Mai. The intricate details of the murals and the serene atmosphere made it a perfect spot for reflection.
Next, I headed to Wat Chedi Luang, another significant temple that houses the largest stupa in Chiang Mai. The grandeur of the structure and the surrounding gardens were breathtaking.
Throughout my trip, I indulged in various local dishes. Breakfast at the hotel was a feast, featuring fresh juices, traditional Thai dishes, and a variety of pastries. I particularly enjoyed the Khao Soi, a northern Thai curry noodle soup that was rich and flavorful.
In the evenings, I explored the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, where I sampled local delicacies and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere. The market was bustling with vendors selling everything from handmade crafts to delicious street food.
As my trip came to an end, I reflected on the incredible experiences I had in Chiang Mai. The Anantara Chiang Mai hotel exceeded my expectations, providing a luxurious and relaxing stay. The city's rich culture, delicious food, and friendly locals made this trip unforgettable.
If you're planning a visit to Thailand, I highly recommend spending more than just a few days in Chiang Mai. There's so much to see and do, and I can't wait to return to this beautiful city in the future!
