This blog post recounts an adventurous road trip through Namibia, highlighting the stunning scenery, wildlife encounters, and memorable experiences over the course of eight days.
The journey begins in the capital city of Windhoek, where we prepare for our road trip. Our vehicle for the week is an epic Land Cruiser equipped with two tents on top, perfect for camping under the stars. Joining us is our friend Charlie, an adventurous Aussie we met during our trek to Everest Base Camp in 2016. With Charlie around, we can expect plenty of laughs and unforgettable memories.
After stocking up on supplies at a local grocery store, we leave the city behind and embark on our grand adventure. The excitement builds as we drive through Namibia's breathtaking landscapes, with massive rocks jutting out of the ground and stunning views that leave us in awe.
As we continue our journey, we find ourselves surrounded by the vast Namib Desert. The beauty of the landscape is unlike anything we've ever seen. The night sky is filled with stars, and we set up camp, ready to experience the tranquility of the desert.
During our first night, we encounter some unexpected guests—bugs! Despite the minor inconvenience, the experience of sleeping under the desert sky is unforgettable. The next morning, we wake up to the sounds of nature and the promise of more adventures ahead.
Our next destination is the famous dunes of Sossusvlei. Known for their towering heights and striking colors, these dunes are a must-see in Namibia. We hike up the sandy slopes, and the view from the top is breathtaking. The contrast of the red dunes against the blue sky creates a picturesque scene that feels surreal.
