However, the theory of constraints teaches us that every system has a bottleneck that limits performance. Improving that bottleneck improves the entire system.
For example, one athlete I worked with struggled to break 20 minutes because his limiting factor was his ability to maintain lactate threshold pace. Instead of training everything, we focused three sessions per week solely on improving that threshold, which led to significant improvement.
