She discovered that my account with Aitisa had never been closed properly, and I had accrued a debt of approximately 7,000 AUD over four years due to a recurring charge for the unreturned remote. This was a serious issue, as the UAE authorities would be aware of this debt upon my arrival.
The representative from the Department of Foreign Affairs advised me against traveling to the UAE, as I would likely be detained at the airport.
