Leena and Heena Sharma inherited 35 acres of land from their parents in Duda De village. While Heena managed the land herself, Leena relied on her uncle, Pradeep Sharma, to take care of her portion. In 2016, Leena decided to fence her land, which had been neglected for years. She planned to sell it and use the money to buy a home in Delhi and settle down.
On April 20, 2016, Leena traveled to her village to meet her uncle and discuss the fencing. By April 23, all the materials for the fencing were arranged, and Leena was set to return to Delhi after the work was completed.
On April 29, 2016, the day the fencing was supposed to begin, Leena mysteriously disappeared. Despite the presence of her uncle, laborers, and engineers, no one could locate her. Pradeep Sharma initially assumed she had left for Delhi due to an urgent matter. However, after a week of silence, her friends in Delhi grew concerned and urged Pradeep to report her missing.
On May 5, 2016, Pradeep filed a missing person report, but the police did not take it seriously. The phone was found with a young man who claimed to have found it on a train.
