As the new year begins, I want to address some important topics and upcoming videos, including the rise and downfall of Dan Drio 203. However, today’s focus is on a particular individual I have wanted to discuss for a long time: Alec, also known as Mystery Crazy. This article is based on a collaboration with Rio from Hey Arnold Productions, where we share our experiences and reasons for no longer watching or supporting Mystery Crazy.
Since 2024, I have been through many challenging incidents, including the infamous Chuck E-Cheese tummy rub incident. Amidst these events, my relationship with Alec deteriorated significantly. Rio and I both have had problems with Alec, which we will detail here.
Mystery Crazy, or Alec, is nearly 30 years old and primarily creates movie review videos. His style is straightforward: he films himself talking directly to the camera with minimal to no editing. For example, in one of his Disney movie reviews, he simply introduces himself and discusses the movie without any engaging edits or dynamic presentation. His intro, a Pixar logo animation, has remained unchanged for nearly five to six years, which many find repetitive and boring.
Both Rio and I agree that Alec’s content lacks creativity and editing skills. His videos often feel monotonous because he does not incorporate any editing beyond a static intro. His community tab posts are similarly uninspired, often consisting of simple updates like "bored at work" or unedited photos of DVDs he has acquired.
Rio pointed out that Alec’s approach to content is unappealing, as he posts mundane updates and does not engage his audience effectively. For instance, he might post a photo of a movie he plans to watch or has just watched, which adds little value to viewers.
Rio shared that Alec has shown unwarranted hostility towards her, hating her for no clear reason. This animosity has caused Rio significant distress, including crying for hours due to the negative treatment.
I also experienced a painful betrayal when Alec sided with my arch-nemesis, Daniel Vasquez, during a conflict. Despite my apologies and explanation that I was taking a break from YouTube to reflect and improve, Alec blocked me on Letterboxd and Instagram without any communication. This action deeply hurt me, especially considering our friendship dating back to 2018.
Alec’s alliance with Daniel Vasquez, whom I despise, was a turning point. He believed Daniel’s falsehoods and effectively joined his side, which felt like a betrayal. Additionally, Alec has expressed unusual and concerning crushes on fictional characters such as Judy Hopps from Zootopia and the female wolf from Arctic Dogs 2. These admissions were shared during our conversation and added to our discomfort with his behavior.
Our intention is not to rant or spread hate but to offer constructive criticism. If Alec wants to improve as a content creator, learning video editing is essential. We recommend beginner-friendly editing software such as PowerDirector, KineMaster, iMovie, or Adobe Premiere.
After all that has transpired, including personal betrayals and dissatisfaction with his content, I have decided to stop watching and supporting Mystery Crazy. Rio shares similar sentiments. We hope Alec takes this feedback seriously and works on improving his content and behavior.
