Discover Rio de Janeiro, a Brazilian-themed cafe in Kolkata offering delicious food at affordable prices, including their famous kunafa and a variety of mocktails and combos.
Welcome back to my channel! Today, we are diving into an exciting culinary adventure at a unique cafe in Kolkata that combines a vibrant theme with affordability. If you are on the lookout for a themed cafe that won’t break the bank, then Rio de Janeiro is the place to be. This Brazilian-themed cafe promises an array of amazing food options at prices that are hard to beat.
The name of the cafe, Rio de Janeiro, is inspired by Brazil's second most popular city, known for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture. The cafe captures this essence with its decor and menu, making it a delightful spot for food lovers.
Upon entering the cafe, you are greeted by a beautifully designed space divided into two sections. The lower part is cozy, while the upper section boasts stunning aesthetics that are visually appealing from every angle. One wall is adorned with a mural of the Brazilian flag, adding to the thematic experience.
As we settled in, we were introduced to the mocktail counter, where a variety of refreshing drinks were being prepared. Although I am not a huge fan of mocktails, I must say that the offerings here are highly recommended for those who enjoy them. The cafe offers a special combo for just ₹669, which includes a hookah, potato wedges, and a Blue Lagoon mocktail. The prices for other combos range from ₹799 to ₹1500, available from noon to 6 PM.
The Blue Lagoon mocktail was the first to arrive, and it was unexpectedly refreshing.
Next, I ordered my favorite dish, fish and chips. The serving was generous, with two pieces of fish accompanied by a mayo dip and a side of French fries. The fish was juicy and flavorful, marinated with coriander, and the portion size was impressive.
The potato wedges served alongside the combo were equally delightful, coated with spices and served with a spicy red sauce dip.
For pizza lovers, the Polo Chicken Special Pizza is a must-try. The quantity was substantial, and the toppings were generous, featuring a variety of chicken types, including peri peri chicken and chicken tikka. The pizza was cheesy and satisfying, making it a standout dish.
I also tried the stuffed grilled chicken, which came with mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. The chicken was tender and flavorful, with a rich filling that made it a delightful choice.
To top off the meal, I indulged in the cafe's signature dessert, kunafa, priced at just ₹110. This Arabian dessert was served hot with a scoop of cold ice cream, creating a perfect hot-and-cold combination. The texture and taste were exceptional, making it a highlight of the meal.
Finding the cafe is easy. If you are coming from Park Circus, head towards Quest Mall and then towards Pali Hill. Just opposite the mall, you will find Tarak Dutta Lane, where the cafe is located. The building also houses a rooftop cafe, adding to the options available.
Overall, my experience at Rio de Janeiro was fantastic. The food was delicious, the ambiance was inviting, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. While the space may be a bit limited, the quality of food and service makes it a worthwhile visit. If you are in Kolkata and looking for a unique dining experience, don’t miss out on this gem. Thank you for joining me on this food journey, and I look forward to sharing more culinary adventures with you soon!
