Rockstar Games will open digital pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI on November 10, 2026, with up to 212 GB of available storage required depending on the device. The publisher’s pre-load FAQ, updated November 3, sets different start times for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The window gives digital buyers nine days to download ahead of the November 19 release, which Rockstar confirmed in its announcement covered here. Retail buyers have a later starting point, and buying a box does not provide a disc-based alternative to downloading the game.
GTA VI follows Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013. Rockstar is the wholly owned publishing label of video-game company Take-Two Interactive behind the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series. In its August 2025 quarterly filing, Take-Two said GTA V had sold more than 215 million units into distribution worldwide. That is a historical measure of its predecessor’s reach, rather than a forecast for GTA VI.
