A contemporaneous report said users could not load chats or previous conversations and received errors when sending messages; it also said the company was monitoring the situation after the fix.
The report later said ChatGPT was back online at 6 a.m. Eastern time, following an outage of almost 50 minutes. That is a useful recovery marker, not a technical explanation. The disruption was reported to have begun at about 5 a.m. Eastern time and to have affected users worldwide, including in the United States and Europe. Users saw persistent sidebar loading animations and a “too many concurrent requests” message when trying to send prompts, according to the account.
It also said Codex and as many as 12 API endpoints were listed as affected. That establishes a contemporaneous product scope as reported by the publication. It does not establish that every endpoint was unavailable, that every customer was affected, or that the services failed for the same reason.
The two retained incident pages are each headed “Elevated error rates” and “Elevated error rates”. Their archived bodies contain no incident chronology, affected-component list, root-cause account or mitigation detail.
