In his keynote at AWS re:Invent 2023, CEO Adam Selipsky discussed AWS's commitment to innovation, partnerships with major companies like Salesforce, advancements in generative AI, and the introduction of new services and technologies aimed at enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiency.
Good morning and welcome to the 12th Annual re:Invent. I am thrilled to be here with over 50,000 attendees in Las Vegas and more than 300,000 watching globally. This event is all about learning, and we have over 2,200 sessions lined up, along with opportunities to connect with partners and fellow AWS community members.
One of the most exciting aspects of re:Invent is the diversity of our customers. We work with innovators across various industries, including:
A notable partnership is with Salesforce, which chose AWS as its primary cloud provider in 2016. We recently announced an expansion of this partnership, integrating Amazon Bedrock with Salesforce's Einstein platform to enhance generative AI capabilities and streamline data management.
AWS is also the preferred choice for startups, with over 80% of unicorns utilizing our services. Companies like Wiz, Ultima Genomics, and Plaid are leveraging AWS to drive innovation in their respective fields.
AWS has continuously reinvented its infrastructure to optimize for scale, security, and reliability. Our global infrastructure spans 32 geographic regions, each with multiple availability zones (AZs) to ensure operational continuity even during failures or disasters.
We have redefined storage with Amazon S3, which allows for highly durable and performant object storage. Recently, we introduced Amazon S3 Express One Zone, designed for high-performance and low-latency workloads, enabling significant cost savings for customers like Pinterest.
AWS has also made strides in general-purpose computing with the introduction of our GRAVITON processors. The latest GRAVITON4 offers improved performance and energy efficiency, making it ideal for various workloads, including those from SAP.
Generative AI is a key focus for AWS, and we are investing heavily in infrastructure to support it. Our approach includes:
We are also collaborating with NVIDIA to enhance our GPU offerings, ensuring that our customers have access to the best technology for their AI workloads.
During the keynote, we highlighted how companies like Delta Airlines and Pfizer are using AWS to innovate. Delta is modernizing its customer service with generative AI, while Pfizer is leveraging AI to accelerate drug development and improve patient outcomes.
A strong data strategy is essential for organizations looking to harness the power of AI. AWS provides a comprehensive set of data services, including:
We also introduced Amazon Data Zone, a service that helps organizations manage and govern their data effectively, ensuring that the right people have access to the right data at the right time.
As we look to the future, AWS remains committed to helping organizations reinvent themselves through technology. Our focus on customer needs, continuous innovation, and strategic partnerships will drive the next wave of transformation across industries.
To close the keynote, we invited guitarist Zach Person to perform, celebrating the spirit of innovation and creativity that defines AWS re:Invent. Let's continue to reinvent together!
