Understanding these concepts is crucial for effectively allocating resources for various events and projects. This post builds on the foundation laid in the previous video, where we introduced the basics of scheduling.
A slot group is a fundamental component in MINT that defines the type, qualification, and number of resources required for a specific event. For instance, if you are scheduling a class, a slot group could represent an instructor who must meet certain qualifications to teach. Each class requires at least one resource assigned to the instructor slot group.
To illustrate the utility of slot groups, consider the scenario of scheduling instructors for training courses. Instead of manually assigning qualified resources to each class, you can set up slot groups with eligibility criteria. This allows the system to automatically assign qualified instructors who are available, saving time and effort.
To manage slot groups, we will navigate to the MINT web assistant. Here, we will focus on the slot group properties related to the A320 LOE (Line Operations Evaluation). To create a new slot group type under A320 LOE, follow these steps:
If you wish to add a new slot group type, simply click the green button and fill in the necessary elements. These slot group types will be essential when adding slot groups to your product.
To create a new slot group, select the training days and proceed to create a new slot group. For example, you might name this slot group "Captain." Here, the slot group type becomes significant. If you want to generate a report on the number of trainees, you can query by the slot group type, such as trainee, instead of listing every role assigned to each training session.
Eligibility defines which resources are qualified to be assigned to a specific event within a slot group. You can set up these qualifications using the queries page or by assigning record items. For instance, a captain might need to have both an A320 LOE trainee qualification and a medical check.
When defining eligibility for a slot group, you specify the required qualifications. For example, when creating a slot group for a captain, you would select the qualifications of A320 LOE trainee and medical check. If you need to establish more complex eligibility criteria, such as requiring either one qualification or another, you would use conditional eligibility. This topic will be explored in more detail in future videos.
Continuing with our example, you can create another slot group named "First Officer" with the type trainee. Set up the same eligibility requirements as before. Additionally, you can create an instructor slot group for day one and day two, specifying the eligibility as A320 LOE instructor qualification and a medical check.
