Quanta Raises 2026 Capex to NT$40 Billion as AI Server Demand Visibility Reaches 2028
Quanta Computer lifted its 2026 capital-spending target by a third after spending NT$21.8 billion in the first half. Its planned 2028 Taiwan expansion depends on completing a pending NT$19.7 billion factory purchase, while customer commitments, financing links and capacity utilization remain undisclosed.

Quanta Computer, a server maker whose AI servers contributed 75% to 80% of server revenue in the first half of 2026, has raised its full-year capital-spending target by NT$10 billion to NT$40 billion. At its August 13 investor conference, the company said customers’ AI-product plans and order visibility run through 2028 and that AI-server preparation takes longer than for ordinary products. The conference account attributes the demand assessment to Quanta, not to independently disclosed contracts.
The decision is therefore less a claim that new capacity is already available than a plan to keep factories, equipment and power ready for projected orders. It also is not a greenfield bet from a standing start: Quanta had already spent NT$21.8 billion by midyear, roughly 55% of the revised budget. Its disclosed numbers show a business in which AI servers are already central, while the farthest-out manufacturing step remains contingent on a factory deal that was still being negotiated.

Much of the revised budget was already in motion
More than 80% of first-half capex went to buildings, facilities and production equipment in California and Thailand. Quanta says the existing domestic and overseas expansion is on schedule to double AI-related capacity by the end of 2026, relative to the end of 2025. It also says it will invest only on the premise of high asset utilization. The company’s stated plan retains a target for AI-server revenue to double in 2026, for conventional-server revenue to grow by a double-digit percentage, and for AI servers to make up 80% of server revenue for the year.
That sequence limits a simple reading of the NT$10 billion increase as a single new commitment. Some of the revised annual total is funding work already under construction, and the company frames the rest around utilization rather than capacity for its own sake. A separate says Quanta expects its overall profit margin in 2026 to hold at its first-half level; it does not provide the underlying margin figure.
