A Comprehensive Guide to Embedding Google Docs into Canvas LMS

2. Locate the Embed Tool: In the editor, find the cloud icon, which allows you to embed content.
3. Prepare Your Google Doc: Open your Google Document, click on "File," then "Share," and select "Publish to the web."
4. Copy the Embed Code: After publishing, you will see an embed code. Copy this code.
5. Paste the Code in Canvas: Return to Canvas, click on the cloud icon, and paste the embed code into the provided field.
6. Adjust the Size: If the document appears too small, switch to the HTML editor by clicking on the HTML button. Modify the iframe code to adjust the width and height. For example, you can set the width to 95% and height to 900 pixels.
7. Save Your Changes: Click "Save" to view the embedded document in its new size.

This method allows students to view the document directly within Canvas, making it easier for them to access important information without navigating away from the platform.

Embedding Google Slides

Next, let’s look at how to embed Google Slides:

1. Open Your Google Slides: Similar to Google Docs, start by opening your Google Slides presentation.
2. Publish to the Web: Click on "File," then "Share," and select "Publish to the web."
3. Copy the Embed Code: Choose the embed option and copy the provided code.
4. Embed in Canvas: Go back to Canvas, click on the cloud icon, and paste the embed code.
5. Save and Center: After saving, you can center the slides for better presentation.

Students will be able to scroll through the slides, but they cannot edit them. This is particularly useful for presentations and visual aids.

Embedding Google Forms

Finally, let’s discuss embedding Google Forms:

1. Create Your Google Form: Open your Google Form and click on "Send."
2. Copy the Embed Code: Similar to the previous steps, copy the embed code provided.
3. Paste in Canvas: Return to Canvas, click on the cloud icon, and paste the embed code.
4. Adjust and Save: You can adjust the size if necessary and then save your changes.

This allows students to fill out forms directly within Canvas, making it convenient for quizzes, surveys, and feedback forms.
